FOR CHRISTINA...

"Act For Care A.M.K.E" Support Campaign for Christina -Areti Karagiannis Halavazis.

Christina-Areti Karagianni Halavazi is a 28-year-old graduate of the Department of Psychology at the University of Crete as well as a Postgraduate student at the Department of Sociology at the University of Crete. Christina is a young girl suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2 (SMA), a neurological disease, which leads to the progressive weakness of the body's muscles.

"Christina does not give up and claims an equal Life".

Over the past three years, her condition has rapidly deteriorated, leaving her bedridden, unable to fend for herself and operate her wheelchair. Christina Areti needs the support of a personal assistant for her daily routine. According to the professionals monitoring her health, the only way to improve her condition, and consequently her quality of life, is to enter a rehabilitation center and undergo an intensive treatment program.

"The presence of a personal assistant through the Urban Non-Profit Company 'Act For Care' in Christina's daily life is necessary because it makes sustainable all the obvious things for a dignified daily life".

The Act of Love organization recently carried out the airlift of our beloved Christina-Aretis, from Crete to Athens, with its own resources and in collaboration with the Greek Flying Doctors company, the EKAV of Crete and the Attica Recovery and Rehabilitation Center.

Christina, from the first moment of her stay in Athens, turned to ActForCare for the necessary support from personal assistants and our response was immediate by surrounding her with a team of trained ActForCare personal assistants on a 24-hour basis. Areti is currently in her second month at the rehabilitation center, where she is following an intensive program of treatments aimed at strengthening her muscles and returning her to a sitting position, so that she can once again operate her wheelchair and gain a degree of independence. With the presence of personal assistants, Christina manages her daily life to a satisfactory degree in terms of functionality and more.

With the kind donation of the Hellenic Shipyards company "ONEX NEORION SHIPYARDS SA"

Christina has the support she needs for the first two months of her recovery. But the fight continues and we are looking for helpers so that Christina can have the life she deserved

Christina-Areti is going through difficult times, but she doesn't give up. She continues to fight with determination and strength, thanks to all of you who have been by her side all this time. Let's all support Christina's daily effort for an equal participation in life.
